Niki Engler, MAT, ATC

Niki Engler joined Team HEAL in 2015 and serves as the Certified Athletic Trainer for Carson High School—Go Colts!

She was born and raised in Los Angeles, but decided to attend college at Gonzaga University in Spokane, Washington. There, she received her bachelors of education in physical education and a minor in psychology. While at Gonzaga, she served as an athletic training intern and primarily assisted the men’s and women’s basketball teams. She also interned with the LA Galaxy in the summer of 2012.

After college, Niki went to the University of Arkansas and earned her master’s degree in Athletic Training. During the summer of 2014, she had the opportunity to work in Uganda with the Federation of Ugandan Football Association, Growing the Game for Girls, and International Sport Connection. She provided medical coverage for soccer tournaments and taught coaches first aid and wound care procedures. She was able to return to Uganda in the summer of 2016 to continue her global medicine pursuits, by teaching a three-day first aid course to coaches and by assisting at soccer clinics in various villages and slums.

Niki also teaches several sports medicine courses at the Academy of Medical Arts at the Carson Complex. She is currently working on clearing her Career Technical Education teaching credential through a program at the University of San Diego, and anticipates finishing in 2018.

Lastly, Niki is a BLS instructor through the American Heart Association. She also obtained her M1-Basic Training certification in the Graston Technique® in 2015 and took the Functional Movement Screening Level I course in 2016.
