Accelerated Teaching Career Academy
Welcome to ATCA
The Accelerated Teaching Career Academy (ATCA) offers unique opportunities and a cohesive educational experience to the 240 Carson High School Students who are enrolled. For thirteen years, ATCA has been a California Partnership Academy and works diligently to prepare students to be the educators of tomorrow, yet teaching is not the sole career focus. In fact, ATCA prepares students for various career paths centering on children including psychology, social work, and pediatrics. Towards this goal, students are given a rigorous curriculum designed to make them competitive college applicants.
All students matriculate through the A-G requirements, making them UC and CSU ready; moreover, students are offered Honors and AP Courses. The curriculum allows students to take classes specific to a career in education, including Child Psychology, Child development, and World of Education. As part of their ATCA experience, students receive internships and work as tutors at local elementary schools. Likewise, students collaborate to create lesson plans that are implemented in the classroom.
