Principal's 2023-24 Welcome Message

AEE family,

My name is Sonia Buenrostro and I’m the proud new principal of AEE. It is an honor to serve the community of Carson. On behalf of the AEE staff, we welcome you to the 2023- 2024 academic school year. Our goal is to work as partners as we continue to work on achieving our district goals of 100% graduation rate, proficiency for all, 100% attendance, parent and community engagement, and school safety.

We are all very excited to have students back in our classrooms filling them with energy and enthusiasm. It is our goal for each student to feel welcomed, safe, connected, and part of our AEE family. We are “C”elebrating C or better for all our students so they can be CSU eligible by the time they apply for college/s during their senior year. We strive to challenge students to grow in their academic abilities and to be college ready by the time they graduate.

We look forward to a productive partnership with parent/guardians to ensure our children achieve to their highest potential. Working together as one for the success of our children will prepare them beyond high school. Parents are valuable partners and we encourage parents to participate on all the great activities we have planned this school year such as back to school night, parent conference, and much more.

Our teachers are highly qualified professionals that are committed to excellence in education. Our goal at AEE is to create effective communicators, collaborative problem solvers, responsible citizens, and critical thinkers. These 21st century skills will ensure that our students are prepared for the new demands in college and the work force. Our school has excellent academies such as Freshman Success Academy, Social Justice & Technology Steam Academy, and the Accelerated Teacher Career Academy a California Partnership Academy. It is our mission to provide the academic foundation to ensure their success.

It is an honor to be the principal of this amazing school. We work as a team to ensure that every student has the opportunity to maximize their potential to learn and grow. I look forward to collaborating as one to develop socially conscious, critical thinkers, who are prepared for life beyond high school, college and careers in education, public service, and information technology.
